At IVS we know that an important part of responsible and enjoyable pet ownership is obedience training for new puppies. Our Puppy Pre-School Classes teach pet owners and puppies aged 8 to 16 weeks how to work together and understand one another to ensure an enjoyable and fulfilling relationship. Owners will learn the basics of house training, how to manage the ‘urge to chew’, and controlling ‘play biting’. In addition owners receive first hand instruction on how best to train new puppies in walking on leash, proper socialization techniques and fun tricks too! Classes span 5 to 7 week periods and are scheduled on Sunday mornings.

For graduates of IVS’s Puppy Pre-School or owners looking for instruction in basic obedience for their canine companions Fido First Grade is a great way to teach dog and owner to work together as a team. Topics include learning obedience commands such as heel, sit, down, sit/stay, down/stay; polite greetings with people; learning tricks such as shake, roll over, spin, and bow; paying attention, focusing and listening despite distractions’; waiting at the door, curbs, and for dinner.
