The Back Office Team

The Kennel Attendant handles the essential needs of pets that are in the hospital for boarding or for bathing and grooming. Typical responsibilities include feeding and watering animals, walking dogs, cleaning and disinfecting cages, observing animals for unusual behavior or illness, recording information for veterinarians and preparing animals for discharge. The Attendant may also bathe animals, trim nails and clean ears in preparation for grooming. In addition, the Attendant provides tender loving care to pets that are boarded or hospitalized.

A high school diploma is required. The Attendant must be skilled at working with a variety of animals and must have exceptional interpersonal ability in order to communicate with a variety of audiences – clients, veterinarians, groomers and other hospital staff. A desire to be part of a team is important. Any related experience is a plus; we will train the highly motivated candidate who wants to learn and grow.

Advanced position includes Lead Kennel Attendant.

The Lead Attendant’s primary focus is overseeing the care of pets admitted to the hospital/kennel and making certain the quality of pet care meets IVS’ rigorous standards. Secondarily, the Lead trains and develops kennel staff and steps in when needed to supervise grooming, bathing and kennel staff.
