Generally, a new team member is hired at the entry level. These positions are described first in the following sections. We provide training – both on the job and in a classroom – and the opportunity for advancement. In fact, all current managers began their careers at IVS in different positions.

Hospital staff works in a fast-paced, demanding environment that requires lifting of animals and materials, and involves long periods of standing and moving throughout the hospital. Emergency medical situations often require a quick response time and the ability to “think on your feet.” You must be able to maintain your composure and confidence while dealing with stressful situations. That said, there are also opportunities to have fun and play with visiting pets.

All staff at IVS is expected to perform at a high level and to go beyond the scope of their individual job descriptions in order to contribute to the hospital’s success. You should be motivated to learn and grow and to take on additional responsibility when the opportunity arises. Willingness to work both independently and as part of a team communicating clearly and effectively is essential.
